Milepost 47, Hartshorn.
We are in the old Bracken Valley & Northern freight house, the brick one with the loading dock that now holds the patio. If you are coming from town, it is the last building before the gap where the tracks used to be.
We open after the 8:14, Tuesday through Sunday. The 8:14 was the morning freight on the old line, and it set the rhythm of the whole valley. It stopped running in the spring of 1971. We still open by it, because some habits outlast the thing that made them.
If anyone tells you we open at 8:15, they are wrong by one minute and a whole railroad. It is the 8:14. It has been the 8:14 for a hundred years and it will not be moved.
Park where the 8:14 used to load. The light is better there now, and the stories are worse, which is the usual trade.
Closed Mondays. The 8:14 did not run Mondays either, back when it ran at all.
